OK, so they’re not quite classics, but they certainly can be considered future classics and — very importantly — they are extremely low-mileage examples being offered at Silverstone Auctions sale July 29-30 at the Silverstone Classic festival at the historic British racing circuit.
The grouping starts with a 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 that has been driven only 10,733 miles since new, very few of those miles in the past 26 years, according to the auction house.
The car was recommissioned by Cosworth specialist John Taylor and is presented in original and unrestored condition. The pre-sale estimated value is £90,000 to £100,000 ($116,500 to $129,000).
“Fast Fords are among the most popular modern classics on the market, and with both reading such a low mileage, these could quite easily be the lowest mileage examples in existence,” Guy Lees-Milne, Silverstone Auctions general manager, said in a news release.
The other Ford to which he referred is a 2010 Ford Focus RS500 that has been driven only 128 miles since being off-loaded at a Swiss Ford dealership, that used the car primarily for showroom display. The car is one of only 500 produced and carries a 345-horsepower, 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine. Pre-sale estimated value is £50,000 and £60,000 ($65,000 to $77,400).
Also on the docket is a 1991 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton, the 28th of only 284 produced and driven only 4,500 miles. The Lotus Carlton was highly acclaimed in its day, with a top speed of 176 mph from its 377 horsepower, 3.6-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine.
The other low-mileage future classic is a 1997 Lotus Elise S1 formerly owned by a member of the British Racing Drivers Club.
