Worldwide Auctioneers reports $6.52 million in sales and an 82 percent sell-through rate for its recent Texas Classic Auction, held for the first time in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The high-dollar sale of the auction was the $1.1 million paid for a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL roadster (figure includes buyer’s fees). The 300 SL went to auction after being displayed on the fairways of the Amelia Island and Hilton Head concours.
“Thanks to all who joined us for a great inaugural weekend in our new Arlington venue and to the city of Arlington itself for its much-appreciated enthusiasm and support, ” Rod Egan, Worldwide co-owner and chief auctioneer, said in a news release.
Other top sales included a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L-88 roadster for $616,000 and a late-production 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster for $275,000.
300 SL tops Texas auctionThe auction included cars from the Monical Collection, with a 1953 Chevrolet Corvette bringing $231,000.
