1973 Chevrolet Camaro offered at Carlisle Events Winter Autofest auction in Florida | Nicole James photos
I have attended Carlisle Events Florida events before, but this is my first time experiencing the Winter Autofest, which includes the first Carlisle Auction of the 2017 event season.
Carlisle’s sales back at the home base in Pennsylvania have become so popular the company is expanding those auctions to three days. The Florida sale is scheduled for two days. However, after walking the auction field, I don’t think it will long before the Florida sales expand as well.
Carlisle Events has amassed dozens of cars, some with unique stories while others are just excellent examples of the nameplate they bear. Given the opportunity, here are the cars I wouldn’t mind taking home:
1973 Chevrolet Camaro
This 1973 Camaro Z28 is a tribute car featuring the original drive train and has been driven less than 1,500 miles since it received a refresh. The car is powered by a small block 350 V8 with aluminum intake, headers, and dual exhaust. The transmission comes with a shift kit while the car has factory A/C -- though the air compressor is not installed at the moment. The body was restored eight years ago with new quarter pannels, trunk, floor pan, rockers and inner fenders. The rear differential has been serviced. The car has rear air shocks.
1937 Ford Woodie
This 1937 Ford Woodie Wagon is a new construction vehicle with a 350 cubic inch V8 engine hooked to a 700R transmission. The car sits on a TCI IFS Chassis, and comes with a full custom interior, air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes. I love the classic lines and images of summer adventures the woodie brings to mind.
1936 Auburn
I love the classic and dramatic lines of this 1936 Auburn 852. Highlights inlcude that it's a convertible car and is supercharged. This particular car was previously in the Henry & Gale Petronis collection and it is said to be an excellent driving car ready to tour.
1958 Cadillac Series 62
I can't get over the color of this 1958 Cadillac Series 62. The car is stunning and comes to us from California with just 48,000 miles since new.
1964 Ford Thunderbird
This 1964 Thunderbird is powered by a 390 cubic inch V8. The car has recently had its distributor replaced as well as wiring, plugs and a carb rebuild. The car was completely stripped and repainted in beautiful Merlot Red.
1981 Toyota Celica GT
It's always a joy to see future classics at auction and this one is no exception. This 1981 Toyota Celica GT is all original with factory air and cruise control.
