Mecum Auctions’ Gone Farmin’ division crossed the border into Canada for the recent sale of the George Nesbitt Allis-Chalmers collection auction, a two-day event that generated more than $2 million Canadian (nearly $1.6 million) in sales, not including buyer’s fees.
The top sale was a 1970 Allis-Chalmers 220 FWA powerhouse that sold for $75,000 (nearly $60,000).
Nesbitt, who farmed and was in the gravel and stone businesses, filled three buildings with tractors and tractor parts. Most of the tractors were restored and maintained in running condition.
The two-day sale included more than 300 tractors and 200 parts and tires.

Some 125 tractors will be offered for bidding August 5 at Gone Farmin’s Summer Showcase at the Expo Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The tractor auction takes place on the final day of Mecum’s Harrisburg auction of classic cars, with 1,000 collector cars expected to be on the docket.
