Mecum Auctions returns to Denver for the second year with an expected 700 mostly American collector cars in the Colorado Convention Center for the July 8-9 sale. We’re all grownups here, so I suppose most of us know that Prince’s song “Little Red Corvette” wasn’t really about a car. But in honor of the fallen superstar, the Pick of the Day is an actual little red Corvette, so “I guess that makes it all right…”

The 1964 Chevrolet Corvette roadster was repainted in the factory-correct Riverside Red during a total exterior restoration, according to the Henderson, Nevada, dealer listing the car for sale on ClassicCars.com. Continue reading

Leake Auction Company sold the Corvette-rich Tom Falbo Collection for some $4.5 million dollars (hammer prices) Saturday, Leake president Richard Sevenoaks said at the conclusion of a day in which two of the Falbo Corvettes, including a rare 1967 L89 convertible, crossed the block twice. Remember our report last month that Leake Auction Co. had secured the Tom Falbo Collection of more than 100 cars that it would offer at no reserve at its sale February 20 in Oklahoma City, and that Leake had hired Roy Sinor to examine the 40 classic Corvettes included in the collection?

Well, Sinor has been at work and Leake announced Wednesday that the recently retired national judging chairman of the NCRS (the National Corvette Restorers Society) has determined that one of those Corvettes, a 1967 convertible in Marlboro Maroon with a white stinger hood and interior, is a rare L89 model.
