The 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder that crossed the Mecum auction block in Anaheim, California, had everything going for it: a one-of-a-kind version ordered from the factory without paint but with exposed carbon fiber and matte black wrap; Nomex lightweight Alcantera bucket seats; the Weissach performance package; and just 1,977 original miles on its odometer.

The highly sought-after modern exotic earned its due with the high sale at the auction last weekend, hammered at $1,475,000 (figure does not include auction fee) to lead results for the three-day event, in which 308 cars and 221 pieces of Road Art were sold for a total of $11 million.

The 918 sale was six times that of the next top result, an ultra-low-mileage 2006 Ford GT that went for $245,000. That was followed by a 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera RS at $200,000, a custom 1958 Chevrolet Impala hardtop named Black Magic at $125,000, and a 1963 Jaguar E-type roadster at $115,000. All Mecum results reflect hammer prices and do not include buyer’s fees.

The Porsche 918 Spyder is an 887-horsepower gas-electric hybrid roadster with a 4.6-liter V8 and plug-in electric propulsion, with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. The factory-rated top speed is 217 miles per hour.

The top-10 sales for Mecum’s Anaheim auction were:
