‘Trunk-or-Treat’ weekend at many automotive museums

Today, October 23-24, the Simeone Automotive Museum in Philadelphia celebrates Corvette Racing with special guests Doug Fehan, program manager for Corvette racing, and Tommy Milner, driver of the Le Mans class-winning Corvette.

The Heritage Motor Centre in England offers a series of lectures and workshops, which continues on October 24, “Cars through the Lens,” focusing on automotive photography. Following on November 29, there will be a presentation called “The story of our gas turbine car.”

The California Automobile Museum in Sacramento holds its inaugural Tuner Car Show  October 24, with help from 1992 Performance and local car clubs NorCalSTIclub and NorCal S2k.

The Blackhawk Museum continues its Fall Speaker series  October 24, with Steve Moal presenting “Creating Carini’s Car: From Concept to Completion;” and continues as follows: November 17, Matt Stone presents “Heroes, Legends, and Friends -– McQueen, Newman, Garner;” December 5, Bill Warner presents “The Cars of Cuba, a Dream or a Nightmare;” December 12, Danny Sullivan presents “Spin and Win – the 1985 Indy 500.”

The LeMay Museum has scheduled a trunk-or-treat event October 24 at the Marymount Event Center in Tacoma, where children will be able to trick-or-treat by going from car trunk to car trunk.
Meanwhile, the museum seeks cars for a new exhibit, “American Muscle – Modified Madness,” which will showcase restored muscle cars from 1964 to 1972 that have appearance or performance modifications. To have your car considered, the museum asks that you submit information and a short vehicle bio with current photograph by November 10.

Muscle Car City’s monthly flea market takes place October 25 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Friday, October 30, a Trunk O’ Treats event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On October 25, the America on Wheels museum in Allentown, Pennsylvania, will host a Trunk or Treat event from 1 to 3 p.m. Craft tables will be on site to decorate treat bags.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., on October 25, the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Auburn Indiana is set to hold its annual “Trunk-or-Treat.” The event is free and open to the public, however all children must be accompanied by adults.

Through October 30, the museum presents traveling community exhibit, the “Women Workers of the Auburn Automobile Company,” will be at the Cupbearer Café in downtown Auburn. The exhibit includes photographs of women working in the Auburn Automobile Company. One goal is that some of the women in the photographs will be identified by relatives, neighbors or family friends so their legacy can be preserved.

The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, has teamed with the Kentucky State Police for a scenic road tour with stops at Abraham Lincoln’s Birthplace, the Rosemary Clooney House, Newport Aquarium, Carter Caves and more. Meals and accommodations are included in the registration fee of $950 for members, $990 for non-members. The last tour will be October 26-31.

The NCM also offers a free trunk-or-treat outside the museum on Saturday, October 31 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and save the date for Saturday, November 21 as the museum will offer sleigh rides in Santa’s Corvette.

The World of Speed Museum in Wilsonville, Oregon, features its next movie night, October 30, with a screening of Christine. Movies on the big screen in the main indoor gallery and start at 7 p.m. Prices are $2.50 for members and $8 for non-members. Movies are: November 20, Cars; and December 11, Talladega Nights.
In addition to the movies, for the next few months two Aston Martins will be on display at the museum, a 1960 Aston Martin DB4GT and 1961 DB4GT Zagato.

The Owls Head Transportation Museum in Owls Head, Maine, is set to hold its Great Fall Auction and flea market on October 31 to November 1. Admission is free all weekend.

“Car Classic” kicks off the DriveLA event season hosted by the Peterson Automotive Museum, followed by the Breakfast Club Cruise-in on November 8, Mecum Auctions November 12, LA Auto show preview party November 19, with the LA autoshow taking place November 20-29, Honda Museum on November 24, McQueen Rally November 25, Tesla Tech day on November 26, Live car stories broadcast November 27, Motor4Toys charity drive on December 6, and finally, the Petersen Automotive Museum Preview Day on December 6.

The Studebaker National Museum celebrates 10 years in its current location from October 26-30 and is sharing birthday cake with all the museum visitors. Additionally, the museum is giving away several 2015 cars and SUVs in an raffle. Cars being raffled include a Toyota Camry SE, Volkswagen Passat 1.8T, Lexus CT Hybrid, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport 4×4 and Ford Escape Titanium. Tickets can be purchased at the museum or over the phone until 5 p.m. December 8. The drawing takes place at 6 p.m. on December 8.

October 31, the National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada, holds a “trick or treat” in the streets of the museum and will have 16 candy stations, Halloween-themed games, and a magic show. The event takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
