The third annual Capitol Carrera, a two-day, 500-mile road tour May 9-10, is being staged again to support the California Automobile Museum.
Organized by classic car enthusiasts and museum supporters, the tour is not a race and no awards are given. The point is to explore the Northern California countryside in the company of fellow classic car driving enthusiasts.
The cost is $350.
If driving 500 miles in two days is not your style, the museum offers a Model A basics and driving class April 11 and a two-day Muscle Car Tune-up session April 25-26.
For $45, participants in the Model A course will learn about the car’s history, operation and basic maintenance before taking the wheel and driving one of the Ford classics.
For $85 (which includes lunch each day), the muscle car class provides hands-on experience about technical service tips of various systems of the 1960s and ‘70s classics. Participants are encouraged to bring their muscle car to the class so they can perform tune-up tests and adjustments directly on their own vehicle.
