Summer Showcase sale offers 175 vintage tractors

Some 175 vintage tractors and assorted agricultural memorabilia will be offered up for bidding when the Gone Farmin’ division of Mecum Auctions stages its Summer Showcase sale August 6 at Midwest Tractor and Plow in Shorewood, Illinois, some 45 miles southwest of Chicago’s Loop.

Among the tractors on the docket are a 1918 Twin City 16-30, a completely original 1921 John Deere Waterloo Boy N, and a pair of steam-powered Keck-Gonnerman tractors — a 1932 30-60 N and a 1936 ZW.

The featured collection at the sale comes from Wayne Greenwood and includes 30 tractors and 200 lots of John Deere memorabilia. Greenwood’s father, Lowell, worked for the John Deere Plow Works for 27 years until retiring in 1962.

Also on the docket is a group of 10 restored John Deere tractors from the Chuck Adelsman Collection.
