With Barrett-Jackson’s lead auctioneer Joseph Mast wielding the gavel, The Stinger, an Indy car autographed by 249 Indy 500 racers, sold for $900,000 last week with all funds going to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The car was purchased by The Century Club, a group led by Indiana trucking company owner and former Indy car team owner Jeff Stoops. The car will be donated by the group to the museum at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
In addition to the sale of The Stinger, other items sold at a special auction held in Indianapolis generated more than $1 million for the hospital.
