An 1875 Abbott-Downing Concord stagecoach emerged as the star of the 39th annual New England Auto Auction to benefit the Owls Head Transportation Museum. The horse-drawn vehicle sold for an auction-topping $203,500 (including buyer’s fees).
Held late last month and for the first time not out in a tent but within the museum’s main gallery in Owls Head, Maine, auction sales totaled just over $3 million with a sell-through rate of 72 percent.
Among the leading vehicles with mechanical horsepower were a 1965 Porsche 356C coupe for $88,000, a 1954 Chevrolet Corvette for $83,600 and a 1954 Cadillac Series 62 convertible for $78,100.
