Last weekend, Britain’s national motor museum at Bealieu held its first Simply Pink rally to support breast cancer awareness. The event encompassed a colorful display of vehicles in every shade of pink, ranging from pale pink to bright fuchsia. Many drivers and passengers even dressed up in pink.
Some of the most eye-catching cars included a 1934 Austin 7 Box Saloon in pale pink, a VW Beetle, Mercedes SLK320, a pair of Minis—one wrapped in glitter pink the other a two-tone white and rose— a Morgan +4, a striking Citroen S3 in black with a pink roof, several Smart cars, and a Porsche Boxter and Toyota Supra, both in fuchsia.
A pale lilac Morris Minor Million was displayed by Tim Lang Classics. The car is number 185 of a 350-unit special edition in 1961 to mark the millionth Minor to roll off the production line.
One of only eight built to promote Ford’s involvement in the 2004 Thunderbirds action adventure film, Ford Heritage brought the soft top Ford Streetka, FAB Too, from the film.
People’s Choice winner Joy Mooney with husband George, Vicky Whitham, Russell BowmanTaking home the People’s Choice award at the show was Joy Mooney from Bournemouth in Henrietta and her 1934 Austin 7 which she has owned since 1962. Second was Bernice Benton from West Wales in a 1968 Hillman Husky van and third was Kelly Barber from Hornchurch, Essex in a 1991 Nissan Figaro.
