Highlights of the sale included a 1973 Porsche 2.7 RS Touring, one of the first 500 built, that sold for more than $628,000 (price includes buyer’s premium). The car was equipped with factory-installed limited-slip differential and Recaro sports seats.

A one-off Porsche Central Operations “911 50” (Project 50) went for more than $265,000, one-third again over its pre-auction estimated value. The car, based on a 1977 911 Lux, was produced in 2014 using modern technology and parts, including a 993 development engine with race-spec cams, G-Series 930 front brakes and 3.2 Carrera rear brakes.

A 2007 911 991 GT3 RS in orange with black decals brought more than $258,000, well above its pre-auction estimate. The GT3 has been driven only 5,527 miles since new and is believed to be among the lowest mileage 997 GT3s in existence.

A 1991 Porsche 944 S2 cabriolet with only 18,900 miles sold for $42,181, which Silverstone said was an auction record for the model. Another low-mileage car, a 2004 Boxster S 550 Anniversary edition with only 2,800 miles, sold for $36,500.

“The Porsche Sale was our first marque-specific event and I couldn’t have wished for a better outcome,” Nick Whale of Silverstone Auctions said in a news release. “As ever, the sun shone at Silverstone and Porsche Club GB members and enthusiasts flocked to The Wing auction room. The partnership of both parties continues for next year as we renew our commitment to The Porsche Sale in 2016.

“This sale is a true testament to the quality of cars consigned by both Porsche Club GB and the Silverstone Auctions team – representing what we feel to be the very best cars available on the current market.”

“Sunday’s sale just goes to show the power of the Porsche marque in the current market,” said Chris Seaward, general manager of the Porsche Club GB.
