Silverstone Auctions opened its 2015 calendar with a 78 percent sell-through, total sales of some $5.6 million and a claimed four world auction record prices at its Race Retro sale last weekend at Stoneleigh Park in Coventry, England.
Silverstone claimed record prices for a 1991 Ferrari Testarossa, sold for $313,170 with a matching five-piece set of luggage, and for a 1999 Ferrari 456M which brought $182,682. The 456M was a one-owner car with only 400 miles on its odometer.
The other record prices claimed by Silverstone at the sale were $177,463 for a 1973 Porsche 911 2.4S with a Targa top and $33,927 for a 1965 Triumph “Truxton” Bonneville motorcycle.
Other sales of note, Silverstone Auctions said, included:
- A 500-mile 1991 Alfa Romeo SZ that sold for $131,358;
- A 1955 Volkswagen Type 2 Samba Microbus, the first of its kind imported into the UK, for $104,543;
- A 2010 Aston Martin Vantage GT2 (Chassis No. 007) that raced in six rounds of the GT Open series and won the Brands Hatch Pro-Am that went for $163,544;
Silverstone’s next sale is March 28 at the Restoration Show at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham.
