A 1962 Chevrolet Corvette resto mod, built over a tube-frame chassis with C4/C5 suspension and LS1 engine, not only was the top car Thursday at Mecum Auctions sale in Kissimmee, Florida, but became the high-seller of the auction so far. The car hammered sold for $135,000.
A 1968 Shelby GT500KR Ford Mustang also exceeded the previous leader, a 2014 BMW i8 Hybrid, when it sold Thursday for $130,000.
The auction’s top-10 results list figures to continue to be revised Friday when cars from the Wayne Schmeeckle Collection cross the block at Osceola Heritage Park.
