The Pinehurst Concours d’Elegance has come to a close and now has its third Best of Show winner, the magnificent 1919 Pierce Arrow Model 66 A-4 Tourer owned by Robert Jepson Jr. of Savannah, Georgia.

The car was originally delivered to the notorious Hollywood legend Fatty Arbuckle and has coachwork by Done Lee Coach & Bodyworks of Los Angeles.

The car is powered by a 6-cylinder 825-cid engine that only has around 50 horsepower. Jepson describes driving it as “it is like driving a underpowered truck with no power steering.”

Restored by Lon Kruger of Scottsdale, Arizona, the Pierce is a magnificent example and only better because of its purple paint.

Yes, the purple paint is the color the car was delivered in.

The car beat out a number of exceptional cars to win the Best Of Show honors at Pinehurst, including a 1937 Talbot-Lago T-150 C and a 1967 275GTB/4 NART Spyder.
