A pony car that really pushed all the buttons as the 1960s drew to a close was the Mustang Mach 1, a solid high-performance beast with just the right touches of racer styling. The signature rear-window louvers were a brave addition that launched an aftermarket frenzy for owners of lesser Mustangs and other sporty cars.

The Pick of the Day is a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 fastback coupe that the seller claims is a fully authenticated car with low mileage and in great condition. The mileage reported in the ClassicCars.com listing is just 32,309, although the seller does not specify whether those are original miles or whether the car has been restored and the odometer reset or turned over.

“This is a true ‘M’ code car and we have the Marti Report … to verify it,” the Columbus, Ohio, classic car dealer says. “The drivetrain consists of a 351 Cleveland with an automatic transmission and a 2.75 gear ratio that will allow freeway travel with ease. The sound out of the dual Flowmasters sounds magnificent.

“It truly is a spectacular car when broken down from the paint to undercarriage to the interior and the beast of the 351ci.”

The yellow Mach 1 is equipped with a shaker hood and rally mirrors, front and rear spoilers, automatic transmission, Ford chrome rally wheels with BF Goodrich T/A radial tires, black bucket seats and a walnut steering wheel. The seller notes the casting date of November 9, 1969, for the big-block V8, which is fed by a Holly 600 carburetor.

This striking muscle car is priced at $34,995, although a prospective buyer will have to ferret out the details of the car’s history from the dealer. Whether the car is an original, low-mileage survivor or a restored Mach 1, its style and performance are sure to put a smile on the face of the next owner.
