While most of the U.S. hunkers down for winter, the collector cars and motorcycles tucked away until spring, we in the Southwest are just beginning our driving season. For the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, the heat is gone and it’s time to put the top down and cruise.
And that’s how it is in Sherman, Texas, near Dallas, where the Pick of the Day, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS convertible, is waiting on a car dealer’s lot. Blue with white stripes, the classic Camaro is equipped with the Rally Sport package and period-correct black-and-white houndstooth-insert seats.
“The blue paint is in really good condition,” the dealer says in the ClassicCars.com listing. “With the brand-new white convertible top, the white Z28 stripes fit the car perfectly. The chrome pieces, including the bumpers, are in exceptional shape.
“It has all the RS badging and proper lights in the rear. The hideaway headlights function like they should and the rally wheels and BFG tires suit the car to a tee.”
While the car is said to have just over 64,000 miles on its odometer, there is no reference in the ad as to it being original or numbers-matching, though the assumption is that it is. Still, it’s a great looking Camaro from just-about everybody’s favorite year for Chevy’s pony car.
The convertible is powered by a 350 cid V8 linked with a three-speed automatic, which the dealer says “perform flawlessly.”
“The car has power disc brakes up front, and the 10-bolt rear end is fitted with drums,” the listing says. “The car has a very recent dual exhaust that sounds ideal for the look and feel of this classic convertible.”
The interior with its go-go upholstery is a major selling point.
“The white-and-black deluxe interior features the awesome houndstooth interior that is in near perfect condition,” according to the dealer. “The console/shifter both look great and the original speedo and tach are working well. The pieces that haven’t been replaced look to be original to the car and are in great shape.”
This classic Camaro with all the right trim is not cheap, offered at $37,500, but it’s not killer expensive either. A great cruiser that should turn every head no matter where in the country you’re driving it.
