Recently, Classic Car News shared that the 1967 Mustang was the most popular search on ClassicCars.com for the month of March. In the article, Kevin Marti, a Ford expert and author of the Marti Report documents that verify the histories of Ford vehicles, said he attributes the popularity of the ‘67 Mustang to Eleanor, the name of the star-car in the 2000 remake film, Gone in 60 Seconds, featuring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie.

Eleanor is easily one of the most universally lusted after cars in pop culture, and as a die-hard Mustang enthusiast, I’m not surprised it’s the most searched for vehicle. Consequently, I couldn’t resist selecting this 1967 Ford Mustang GT500 convertible as Pick of the Day.

Fender flares and paint show off 18-inch Shelby wheels

This Mustang underwent an extensive restoration that has resulted in a vehicle worthy of the Eleanor name, according to the Lutz, Florida, seller.

“Eleanor GT500s are not about replicating the movie car,” the seller said. “Instead, they take the spirit of building an American icon.”

Mirroring the icon, this GT500 features custom fender flares and all of the “Eleanor” details, such as dual billet grilles, Shelby-style racing lights, custom fog- and driving-light kit integrated into the custom front end, integrated rear spoiler, Shelby sequential taillights, and the bold side exhaust.

Unlike the movie car, the Pick of the Day has silver racings stripes and is a convertible with custom side scoops.

According to the listing, the interior features black seats, new door panels, boot cover, and the car has a black power convertible roof. The listing also says the car’s interior is geared towards driver comfort with additional highlights, such as a JME phantom gauge cluster with full AutoMeter readouts. Other creature comforts include an auxiliary port to connect a phone or iPod, and air conditioning.

Powering this GT500 is a 460-cubic-inch V8 that features TRW forged pistons, Ford Racing valve covers, hydraulic competition camshaft, Holley four-barrel carburetor 750, and Edellbrock intake manifold. Set up as a side exhaust system, the hefty V8 exhales into long tube headers connected to Flowmaster mufflers.

When it comes to how this Eleanor convertible handles, the seller says the suspension is made up by Rod & Custom Motorsports RC-107 complete with tubular adjustable coil overs, as well as Global West subframe connectors in the rear of the car, KYB shocks, and Grab-a-trak performance springs and sway bar kit, and Flaming River rack-and-pinion power steering with Baer four-wheel disc brakes.

This movie-tribute Mustang is priced at $92,995, which seems about right considering all that went into building it.
