The Pick of the Day is a 1964 Mercury Monterey four-door sedan with the popular and even show-stopping “Breezeway” electric rear window. But wait, there’s more… much more.
This car comes from a private seller whose advertisement on ClassicCars.com notes that the car is “original, unrestored” and “runs and drives like a new car.”
Breezeway rear window goes up and downAnd it figures to run very well, indeed, because it’s equipped with a “factory original special order” Marauder 390 big-block V8 engine, which means at least 300 horsepower, and as much as 330 depending on the carburetor setup.
Available as an option on the standard-roofed car, the Marauder engine was standard equipment only on the fastback version of the Monterey.
This car, showing 61,000 miles on its odometer, also has an automatic transmission, power steering and AM radio.
The ad notes that the carpets, exterior paint, engine, vinyl upholstery, deluxe wheel covers, headliner, weatherstripping and more are original. The car comes with its original window sticker, owner’s manual and dealer invoice. The seller rates the cars exterior and interior both as in “excellent” condition, and the photos with the ad tent to support that rating.
The ad includes more than two dozen photos, including one showing the car was sold originally by Continental Motor Sales of Easton, Pennsylvania. The car is now in Miami, Florida.
The asking price is $19,400.
