From mild to wild, custom cars are the ultimate expression of individuality that invite onlookers to escape mass-production normality to experience the car as a piece of automotive industrial art.

According to the listing on ClassicCars.com, the uniqueness of the Pick of the Day, a 1957 Continental MKII custom, earned the car a spot on the cover of Rod and Custom magazine.

The private seller in Nokesville, Virginia, notes the rarity of the build.  For two model years, Ford built luxury cars from a free-standing Continental division, separate from Lincoln, as with this car; Continental later became a Lincoln model.  The cars had a limited production run – about 3,000 Continentals were created –  and according to the seller, only a handful have been fully customized.

“The car has over 30 major body modifications,” says the seller, who added that the car has gained just 2,500 miles since the build was completed.

The body modifications offer a totally unique appearance that showcases the original design while presenting an aggressive and dramatic look.   That is achieved with a two-inch chop to the top, frenched highlights including the headlights, custom grille, shaved door handles and molded bumpers, and the quarter panels have been lowered.

Under the hood is the original rebuilt 369cid wide-block V8 engine mated to the factory-rebuilt automatic transmission, and the seller says the car “runs and dives amazing at 70 miles per hour.” Additionally, air-ride suspension gives the car an elegant stance while power windows, power steering and power brakes give the car a modern feel.

The car also features a custom interior, which was created with white leather and other materials that offer the driver and passengers a touch of classic simplicity while playing homage to the original style, the seller says.

The Continental MKII is offered for $109,000, which the seller notes is a price decrease with serious offers welcome.
