The yellow-and-maroon paint scheme may not be to everyone’s liking (of course, that can be changed), but the seller of the Pick of the Day, a 1956 Ford F-100, notes that the pickup is a “very original” fat-fender example with a completely overhauled 272 cid Y block V8 and four-speed manual gearbox.
“The motor features the original block, cylinder heads, intake manifold, original valve covers, newer Holley carburetor, original air cleaner, original style exhaust manifold (without the front crossover pipe) and dual exhaust,” the seller says in the truck’s advertisement on ClassicCars.com.
“The motor sounds and runs great, has lots of power, great compression, and no leaks,” continues the private seller, located in Fort Myers, Florida.
“All of the drivetrain is original and well maintained. It was also recently upgraded with a new power steering system.”
Ford’s F-100 was restyled for the 1956 model year. The design featured a wrap-around windshield, new grille styling and other changes — inside and out — including a new rear “big window.”
The V8 engine was rated at 167 horsepower with 260 pound-feet of torque.
The yellow-and-maroon paint was done to give the car what the seller calls “that vintage look.” The advertisement states that the truck bed is era-varnished wood, and that the truck wears its original emblems and hubcaps. It also has its original instrument panel with all gauges working.
“The body is all steel and straight as an arrow with no rust,” the seller promises.
Glass has been replaced, the bench seat is leather-covered and new, and the truck has seat belts, new headliner and door panels.
The seller adds that this truck is ready to serve as a daily driver. The asking price is $27,900 or best offer.
