Sixty-six years old and apparently ready for a run the length of Route 66, this well-reserved and original 1950 Buick Special sedan is the Pick of the Day.

“This car is amazingly preserved including the original paint and what is believed to be the original seat covers over the mohair upholstery,” the Chicago-based collector car dealership reports in its ad on ClassicCars.com.

“One thing truly remarkable about this classic Buick is that the paint and chrome are original as well and still shine up nicely. It is hard to believe that after 66 years this car still looks amazing and runs and drives just as well.”

Asking price is $19.995

The ad proclaims that, “One turn of the Briggs and Stratton key on the original dealer key chain and a press of the accelerator the original 263 cubic inch V8 fires right up and runs whisper quiet. Luxury cars of the time were so concerned about the cars running as smooth and quiet as possible there was actually a muffler installed on the air cleaner assembly to limit air intake noise.”

The car has its straight-8 engine and a Dynaflow transmission with a variable pitch design.

“After many years of pampering and some years of covered storage this car has been resurrected into what you see before you,” the seller continues.

The car comes with its vintage service records, a photo of the car in storage under a cover, and a trip log from a journey traveled by a previous owner “documenting where he stopped and how often he filled up with gas — along the way getting a speeding ticket and meeting some interesting people.”

The seller notes that the car has traveled only 23,000 since new.

“This car is remarkably easy to drive and just floats down the road even at highway speeds,” the ad promises.

Options on the car include a color-matched sun visor, day/night mirror, passenger “Buick” vanity mirror, full wheel covers, car cover, clock, AM radio, turn signals, remote antenna adjustment and a vintage First Aid kit.

The ad, which includes 64 photos, lists the car for $19,995.
