I think it was my love for Cruella De Vil’s car in the 1990’s 101 Dalmatians movie that cemented my love for old cars with huge rolling fenders and long classic lines. Cruella was the villain in the movie that you just loved to hate and, of course, her ride was undeniably badass.
My Pick of the Day is basically the sporty version of what she had, with some performance under the hood and still retaining the classic dramatic style that millennials, such as me, have come to love because it reminds us of the cars from our favorite childhood movies.
Even with childhood memories aside, this 1934 Chevrolet Cabriolet is sure to be a neck-breaker wherever it is seen. According to the listing on ClassicCars.com, this car is “straight outta heaven” with its entire chassis and components made up of polished stainless steel.
Powering this machine is a 355 cid small-block Chevy with a 268 hydraulic camshaft complete with 327/300 heads and early Corvette valve covers. Under-hood shine is provided by a polished aluminum intake with two chrome four-barrel carburetors and high-heat aluminized headers. The motor is mated to a 400 turbo transmission.
The cabriolet features a Mustang II independent front end with chrome rack, Mustang spindles with Chevy bolt pattern, Aldin coilovers on the front and a 1981 Corvette independent rear suspension with 3:08 gears and stainless calipers. To stop the car is a Midland power-brake system with stainless-steel lines.
Other unique features on the car include a late model GM tilt column, Ron Francis wiring, “Vintage Air” heat and air conditioning, Griffin Aluminum radiator with aluminum condenser, Kenwood stereo CD amps and subwoofers with power antenna and a digital dash by Coming Attractions. The lower section of the dash was created with three manual gauges. Drivers will also enjoy the power windows and magnetic door openers.
The body of the cabriolet is painted Standox base and clear while the car sits on Budnick Famous wheels.
According to the listing, the car also features loads of fabrication work from polished stainless steel. The front-end upper and lower control arms were custom made as well as the entire chassis and cross members. All control arms and trailing arms for the Corvette rear were custom made and polished in addition to the motor mounts and brackets, disc-brake dust covers, exhaust system, rear bumper and taillight housings, brake light and front running light boxes, grille, gas tank, hood latch and hinges, gas and brake pedals, window trim and door seal plates. The body, chassis, engine and transmission bolts are all stainless steel.
As if the performance parts and polished pieces weren’t enough to get you excited about this car, it also features french work done to the Downs body that includes a third light added to the body, antenna frenched in, headlight stands molded to body, license plate molded and recessed into body for gas fill neck, and underneath the hood, side apron, and as an added bonus, the entire under body was filled and painted to make this a top-drawer show car.
According to the seller, “sweethearts like this one will not sleep alone for very long.” The car is being offered for $59,900 in Riverside, New Jersey, by a dealership.
