Mecum Auctions sold 645 vehicles at its annual Houston sale last weekend for a total of more than $25 million. The sell-through rate was 70 percent of the more than 900 vehicles crossing the block.
The high-dollar sale was a 1932 Duesenberg Model J Phaeton for $500,000 (prices are hammer sales and do not include buyer’s fees).
The top 10 sales were an eclectic mix of classics, muscle cars, a modern supercar, an antique and a European sports car.
“Mecum’s annual Houston auction continues to keep the pulse of the collector-car market and serves as an excellent representation of today’s healthy supply and demand among even the widest array of enthusiasts,” the auction company reported in its news release.
Once again, Mecum did extremely well with a Ford GT wearing Heritage Edition colors. The 2006 model sold for $475,000.

- 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, $180,000

The Ford GT showed only 13 miles on its odometer. The 1906 Packard was one of only three known to still exist. The Porsche clocked in with less than 21,000 miles on its odo.
Mecum’s next auction is April 23-25 at Kansas City, followed by Dana Mecum’s 28th annual Original Spring Classic, May 12-17 at Indianapolis.
