A 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 427 fastback hammered sold for $220,000 to top all sales at Mecum Auctions’ third annual auction last weekend in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
While the sell-through rate remained strong at 70 percent, sales totaled $16.7 million, down from $21 million in 2014 and $20.5 million a years ago. Sales totals do not include buyer’s fees, which figure to bump all those numbers by some 10 percent.
“For the third straight year, with a huge standing room only crowd for all three days, Mecum once again had a rousing auction that guarantees our return in 2017,” said John Kraman, consignment director for Mecum Auctions.
“The Top Ten sales were all in excess of $100,000 each, with American performance cars showing exceptional results. The energy and enthusiasm of the entire event shows the passion for both collector car fans and Mecum in the North East market.”
