With a record-number of vehicles crossing the block, the Leake Auction Company posted $11.7 million in sales at its recent Tulsa, Oklahoma, auction. Of the 688 vehicles crossing the block, a strong 74 percent were sold, including 150 from the Chicago-based Klairmont Kollection.

“The strength of the collector car market is evident based on the results of our auction,” Nancy Leake Sevenoaks, daughter of Leake founder Jim Leake, said in a news release.

“One thousand bidders competed for a diverse collection of cars,” she added.
“From barn finds to private museum collections, our bidders had a great and a diverse selection to choose from at this sale.”

In addition to the sales, a highlight of the event was the posthumous presentation of the James C. Leake Award to Margaret Dunning, the 104-year-old grand dame of American car collectors who died just days before the auction after falling while taking part in the ELK Charity Challenge rally and driving tour in California.
