The new kid on the Monterey auction block certainly found a great setting for selling cars.
That new kid is JR Auctions, the J from Jeff Davi and the R from Robert Tybor, entrepreneurs and car collectors who got together about 15 months ago and decided to launch their own classic and collector car enterprise.
Bidding in the sunshine at Monterey
At some point, J and R added Denton Coetzee as consignment manager for their first sale, which began Wednesday on the patio of the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa and overlooking Monterey Bay.
The scene is Monte Carlo-like. While there’s no Monaco casino, there is the opportunity to bid on a variety of vehicles. Following are half a dozen of the vehicles being offered that I’d be pleased to have in my collection.
Note that we’re presenting these picks with no details other than the year, make and model of the vehicle, which is all that is provided — with a very few exceptions — in the JR Cannery Row auction catalog or on its website.
