With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, ClassicCars.com is feeling the love and asked readers to vote for the most romantic car. With 30 percent of the total votes, the Jaguar XK-E was the clear winner.

The Jaguar E-type is a British sports car was produced between 1961 and 1975. The cozy two-seater is a perfect combination of beauty and performance, making it easy to see why it was voted the most romantic car.

According to Roger Falcione, president and chief executive of ClassicCars.com, the E-type has been ingrained in car culture for many decades and “much of the romance centers around the memories made in these cars and the fundamental role these classic cars play in our history, culture, and daily lives.”

With 25 percent of the votes, the 1959 Cadillac convertible secured second place with its long, luxurious and tall fins, drop top and beautiful interior.

The third-most romantic car was the ever iconic 1965-66 Ford Mustang convertible, with 14 percent of the vote, followed by the 1935 Auburn Speedster at 10, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder at 9 and lastly the Alfa Romeo Duetto and MG tied at 6 each.

The E-type is one of if not the sexiest car ever but also set the standard in other attributes as well like the first production car to go 150 mph, 4 wheel disc brakes, independent rear suspension and more. It set the standard in design that other companies like Ferrari, Corvette, Toyota (2000), Datsun 240Z, and others would be influenced by.

  2. Just bought my 1969 XKE roadster. I was 16 when they hit the showroom floor. I have been in love ever since. It is the most beautiful body man has ever created
