Each year, the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival and Concours d’Elegance reserves an area for a special exhibit under the theme of “Life.” For example, last year it was “Life in the Suburbs” featuring family vehicles from the 1950s and early ‘60s.
This year the theme is “Life on the Silver Screen” and will feature four-wheeled celebrities in an exhibit sponsored by the South Carolina Film Commission.
Vehicles scheduled to be on display include:
- The 1967 Volvo 1800S from the television series The Saint;
- The 2015 Aston Martin DB10 from the James Bond movie Spectre;
- The No. 46 City Chevrolet from Days of Thunder;
- A 1963 Ferrari 250 California Spyder SWB like the one in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off;
- A 1919 Pierce Arrow 66 A-4 Tourer formerly owned by silent film star “Fatty” Arbuckle;
- A 1927 Pierce-Arrow Series 80 Club Brougham, a 1928 Chris Craft Triple Cockpit and a 1930 Chris Craft 100, all of which will appear in Live By Night, a movie scheduled to debut in 2017;
- A 1959 Bentley S-1 from Breakfast at Tiffany’s;
- A 1968 Ford GT500 like “Eleanor” from Gone in 60 Seconds;
- A 1969 Dodge Charger that appeared in The Dukes of Hazard;
- A 1974 Dodge Monaco ala the Blues Brothers “Bluesmobile;”
- A 1976 Lotus Esprit and a 1976 Lotus Esprit Marine from James Bond’s The Spy Who Loved Me;
- A 1983 DeLorean DMC-12, like the Time Machine from Back to the Future;
- A 1992 Jeep Sahara from the Jurassic Park franchise
“Life on the Silver Screen” will be the eighth “Life” focused display at Hilton Head and will be on the field both Saturday, November 5, at the festival car show and Sunday the 6th at the concours.
“This year’s ‘Life’ exhibit celebrates the starring and supporting roles that automobiles have played throughout motion picture and television history,” Carolyn Vanagel, festival president, said in a news release.
“Visitors will even get a sneak preview of some amazing classics fresh off the studio lot from the yet-to-be released film Live By Night, directed by and starring Ben Affleck.”
Other two-day exhibits during the festival and concours will be a display of vintage wooden boats, a centennial display of the Anderson, an automobile produced in South Carolina, and a collection of cars that have competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
