The 2017 Mustang Dream Giveaway, brought to you by Steeda Autosports, is a nationwide drawing sponsored by New Beginning Children’s Homes. In addition to the funding they receive, NBCH will provide grants to several other charities, including Honor Flight of West Central Florida, National Guard Educational Foundation, Smile Network International, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Bright Pink and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.
The winner of the 2017 Mustang Dream Giveaway will receive not one but two one-of-a-kind Mustangs.
The first part of the grand-prize package is the world’s only 1965 Shelby GT350X. The car began as a brand-new 1965 Shelby GT350CR handcrafted with more than 2,000 hours of work at Classic Recreations in Yukon, Oklahoma, and then delivered to be transferred into the 350X, an experimental muscle car powered by a supercharged and fuel-injected 302cid Ford Racing V8 that pumps out 700 horsepower.
The car is included in the Shelby Worldwide Registry to ensure its provenance and future collectability.
The second part of the grand-prize package is the world’s only 2017 Shelby GT350X, a car designed to compete against the likes of the Dodge Hellcat, Corvette Z06 and Camaro ZL1.
Thanks to Steeda Autosports, a longtime Mustang specialist, the car has a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger mounted on Ford’s new Voodoo 5.2L V8 engine to produce a whopping 875 horsepower that it puts to the pavement through its Steeda G-Trac suspension and Nitto tires.
The car also features a brush-aluminum GT350X grill emblem, color-coded Lightning Blue rocker stripes and hood callouts, over-the-top stripes that form an X on the pony’s tail, body-colored rear spoiler, and more.

Steeda Autosports was founded in 1988 by Dario Orlando to focus on preparing Fords for racing and higher performance on the street. The company, which is based in Pompano Beach, Florida, notes that it has produced more race-winning and track-record-setting production-based vehicles than such competitors as Roush, Shelby and Saleen.
Steeda founder’s Dario Orlando’s grandfather went to work for Henry Ford in 1910 as an industrial-manufacturing foreman and spent 46 years with the company. Dario’s father, Domenico, was a draftsman who went to work in the Ford design department and became a senior design styling director involved in vehicles such as the original Thunderbird, the Mercury Polomar concept, the original Mustang and the Ford GT40 Mark IV.
After retirement, the family moved to Florida, where Domenico Orlando worked as a designer at Chris Craft Boats.
In 1975, Dario Orlando opened Dario’s Foreign Car Service in Pompano Beach, not only working on cars but racing them, winning the South Atlantic championship in 1977 in a bugeye Sprite. He soon was racing at Sebring and Daytona and became part of the Ford team, doing engine and suspension development working on the Merkur XR4TI program.
In the late 1980s, he decided to specialize in high-performance parts for Ford vehicles, including a limited-edition line of Mustangs. When he couldn’t obtain the rights to the Sebring Mustang name for those cars, he purchased a former tennis-equipment manufacturer and turned Steeda into a name known not on the courts but on the road and track.
In addition to its facilities in Florida, Steeda Autosports has a 35-acre complex in engineering and manufacturing center in Valdosta, Georgia.
