British classic car dealers plan to populate their stands at the second London Classic Car Show on February 18-21 with some one-off vehicles they have for sale.
Among those vehicles is the 1968 Ferrari 330GT Vignale Special, a “shooting brake” built for Luigi Chinetti Jr., son of the American Ferrari importer, and offered for sale by London-based classic car dealer Graeme Hunt.
Hunt’s stand also will feature the one-off 2008 Aston Martin DBS “Casino Royale” Special built for Barbara Broccoli, who has succeeded her father, Cubby, as producer of the James Bond movie franchise.
Making its debut at the show is the 300SL SportLine from The SL Shop. Based on a classic R107 Mercedes-Benz SL, the car’s 3.0-liter straight-six engine has modern fuel injection to enhance its performance.
Also featured, by Le Mans Coupes Ltd., is the Superformance GT40, available in MkI or MkII verisons and left- or right-hand drive.
“Technically the GT40 is an evocation of the Shelby-developed fast Ford that won Le Mans, but the South African-built Superformance machines are so close to the real thing – some 70 per cent is interchangeable with the original – that they are recognized by the Shelby American World Registry,” the show’s news release reports.
“The only thing that isn’t interchangeable with an original is the price. The Superformance cars, which are imported to the UK by Le Mans Coupes Ltd, start at £99,800 (plus VAT)… one of the four ex-Works Gulf Le Mans racers sold for $11 million in 2012.”
