Eight great Ferraris, dating from the 1960s to a 2003 Enzo, have been consigned to Gooding & Company’s Arizona auction in January by a Beverly Hills, California, collector well-known among the ferraristi for his unbridled enthusiasm for the Italian stallion.
The collection of Tony Shooshani, who has written extensively about Ferrari history as well as driving his cars in a number or rallies and track events, represents a timeline of Ferrari history from the acclaimed 250 GTs to recent advanced supercars, according to the auction house, which holds its sale January 29-30 at Scottsdale Fashion Square.
Together, the eight Ferraris’ value is estimated by Gooding as between $11.6 million and $13.5 million.
“We are honored to have a part of one of the most esteemed Ferrari collections in North America from such an astute and refined collector,” David Gooding, president of Gooding & Company, said in a news release. “These three supercars within the Shooshani Collection perfectly illustrate the evolution of Ferrari’s engineering and lineage, with all eight Ferraris possessing a noteworthy individual history.”
The Shooshani Ferraris that will cross the auction block are:
1995 Ferrari F50 (Estimate: $2,500,000 to $2,900,000) – An 1,100-mile car powered by a Ferrari Formula 1-derived V12 and chassis comprised entirely of Cytec aerospace carbon fiber that weighs just 225 pounds.
1990 Ferrari F40 (Estimate: $1,300,000 to $1,600,000) – The celebration of Ferrari’s 40th anniversary weighs just 2,400 pounds and, powered by a 478-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8, is capable of speeds in excess of 200 mph. This one has been driven just 3,600 miles.
2003 Ferrari Enzo (Estimate: $2,400,000 to $2,800,000) – A supercar landmark that broke nearly every performance record when new, with 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph, powered by a race-derived V12 rated at 660 horsepower. Another low-mileage supercar showing just 2,600 miles.
1960 Ferrari 250 GT Series II Cabriolet (Estimate: $2,000,000 to $2,300,000) – The classic convertible, finished in the rare color of Blu Scuro over a cream leather interior, was shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2000. It comes with a rare factory hardtop.
1964 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso (Estimate: $2,200,000 to $2,500,000) – The subject of a concours-quality restoration completed in June 2013 in Blu Sera over beige leather, the beautiful Lusso earned best in class at the 2014 Arizona Concours d’Elegance.
1969 Ferrari Dino 206 GT (Estimate: $700,000 to $800,000) – An early unrestored example that is 104th of 153 alloy-bodied Dinos, the most-desirable model. A rare survivor finished in Rosso Chiaro.
1984 Ferrari 512 BBi (Estimate: $400,000 to $475,000) – The iconic 512 Berlinetta Boxer supercar was formerly owned by legendary racer A.J. Foyt, who signed both the dashboard and the owner’s manual. The V12-powered Boxer is finished in Grigio Argento over a Bordeaux interior
1988 Ferrari 328 GTS (Estimate: $125,000 to $150,000) – A meticulously maintained and original 328 GTS, considered one of the best driving exotics, with less than 15,000 miles from new.
