A resto-mod is a vintage vehicle that has undergone a restoration in which many of its beneath-the-skin components have been modernized while keeping the car’s basic appearance classic. The idea is to have a car that looks vintage but that can be driven both safely (for example, with disc brakes) and in comfort (with air conditioning).
Pro-touring takes the resto-mod a step further, with an emphasis on making improvements that contribute to enhanced dynamic performance.
The Pick of the Day is a 1958 Chevrolet Impala that has undergone a pro-touring process. The car is being advertised on ClassicCars.com by a dealership in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The car is powered by a fuel-injected 305cid V8 taken from a late ’80s Chevrolet Camaro and is linked to a 700R4 overdrive transmission and a 3.55 rear. The engine exhales through ceramic-coated headers and Magnaflow mufflers.
The car has power front disc brakes and quick-ratio power steering.
The Taupe leather interior features power seats from a 2001 Cadillac Eldorado, with a custom console and red carpet, as well as Vintage air conditioning.

And they couldn’t get the exhaust outlets symmetrical?
Put underbumper straights on this, ’59 Caddy taillight cones over the stockers, and lightly stripe the bodylines underneath in red- voila! Cunningham’s ’58 from “American Graffiti”.
