Student-organized car show at Yosemite High School, Oakhurst CA

-

For the past eight years, students at Yosemite High School in Oakhurst, California, have organized a car show. But the streak was going to end this spring, at least it was until seniors Ryan Losee and Evan Parker made the show their mission.

Parker got things started but then Losee took over and turned the show into his senior class project, convincing members of the local Mountain Road Rattlers car club to show their cars on the same afternoon that the inaugural ELK Charity Challenge would be rolling into town for the night.

There were hot dog and T-shirt sales and cheerleaders and — to the surprise of the high school students and Oakhurst community — even the Batmobile with Batman patiently posing for photos.

By the end of the afternoon, nearly $1,300 had been raised to buy needed equipment for the school’s auto shop, and all because a couple of students felt the need to give something back to their school.
