Rise & Drive is Chicago’s twist on the cars-and-coffee cruise-ins taking place across the country.
Now in its third year, Rise & Drive has a new gathering place, the Collectors’ Car Garage. The free event is open to a variety of cars — vintage classics, sports cars, muscle cars, exotics and microcars, with a few hot rods and customs among the nearly 100 cars that attended the most recent monthly gathering.
Exotics included a McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and few Ferraris. Vintage rarities included a 1922 Citroën 5CV Torpedo roattail roadster and a Porsche Carrera 3.2 rally car. The most raw car was a 302 V8 ’61 Ford Falcon built to replicate a period-correct Holman and Moody road racing car.
Event sponsor Mancuso Motorsports, a Chicago-based luxury and super car dealer, provides coffee at this monthly opportunity to see a variety of cars and even some trucks.
Collectors’ Car Garage is a purpose-built automotive storage facility dedicated to the care and preservation of collectible vehicles. The membership-based 58,000 sq. ft. storage facility calls itself a country club for enthusiasts and their cars and motorcycles.
The next Rise & Drive is scheduled for Sunday, July 3, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The gatherings continue monthly, the first Sunday, into October. Collectors’ Car Garage is at 2500 W. Bradley, Chicago.
