California State Route 1 runs north and south along the Pacific coastline. Various portions are known as the Cabirillo Highway, the Shoreline Highway, the Coast Highway, but most popularly as the Pacific Coast Highway, or PCH.
The roadway was constructed in 1934, comprises 655.8 miles and is one of the most well-known scenic drives in the world.
Recently, I had the opportunity to drive from San Francisco south on the PCH to Santa Monica. Along the way I passed though Pacifica, Half Moon Bay, Pescadero, Santa Cruz, Moss Landing, Monterey, Big Sur, Ragged Point, San Simeon, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, Solvang, Santa Barbara, and Malibu.
Along the way I saw many farms, pumpkin patches, some local car shows, and some breathtaking beaches and views.
