The Goodguys sixth Spring Nationals, presented by Browns Classic Autos, took place last weekend at WestWorld in Scottsdale Arizona, where car enthusiasts enjoyed three days of that famous Arizona heat and over 2,500 pre-1973 classic, muscle, and vintage cars that came from all over the country—and even a few from Canada.
The event was the season opener of the Goodguys 2015 calendar and also started the association’s autocross schedule. Defending Pro and former Street Machine champion Kyle Tucker and his blue ’70s Chevrolet Camaro took victory of the Pro Class with a time 64.850 seconds.
Brandy Phillips won the truck class in her 1972 Chevrolet C-10. Her winning lap was 69.901. Kevin Daigle won the Street Machine class in his 1965 Shelby Cobra with a lap time of 64.093, Cameron Bishop won the Hot Rods class in his 1932 Chevy and a lap time of 73.026 while Marshall Machado for All American Sunday in a 2004 Corvette with a time of 66.03.
The Goodguys presented some 100 awards during the weekend. Among the most notable was the 2015 Rocket Racing Wheels Muscle Car of the Year Finalist to Bob Leenstra for his 1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda, the Vintage Air Custom Rod of the Year Finalist to Dean Osland and his 1959 Rambler, and LMC Truck of the Year finals to Yancy and Seria Taylor and their 1966 Chevy Step Side.
