Crossing the block at the 29th McCormick Palm Springs Collector Car Auction, scheduled for November 20-22, are a pink 1959 Cadillac, a 1962 Ford Thunderbird and nearly 600 other cars ranging from Ferraris to hot rods, from muscle cars to antiques.
According to Keith McCormick, owner of the auction house, the 1959 pink Cadillac is a Series 62 convertible with only 53,000 actual miles and the 1962 Ford Thunderbird convertible is a factory “Sport Roadster” model.
“Both are rare cars,” he added.
At its auction in Palm Springs a year ago, company grossed $7.7 million in sales, the highest figure in its history.
“Our sales rate tops 80 per cent, which is a record for a reserve auction.” McCormick said.
As a result, and combined with a record attendance, this time, “the Friday auction has been expanded to 180 cars to accommodate more sellers,” McCormick said.
Of the inventory, McCormick called it, “a mix of vehicles in all price ranges, something for everyone.”
The upcoming auction will offer live stream online coverage and Internet bidding for those who register in advance. McCormick said cameras will be set up to show different views of each car as it passes through the auction tent.
The auction will be held at the Spa Resort Casino parking lot in downtown Palm Springs.
The auction is free to the public on Friday. Admission is $15 each day Saturday or Sunday, or $25 for a two-day admission ticket.
