The Cars and Coffee phenomenon is something that has sprung up in just about every area in the United States in recent years. The idea is a simple one: Bring your cool car, no matter what the type or make, out on a Saturday or Sunday morning and show it off while you enjoy coffee and doughnuts for breakfast.
There are no awards, just a group of guys and girls showing off their cars to their friends, or to whomever stops by that morning.
In my part of Connecticut, the call the gathering Caffeine and Carburetors and last weekend we saw hundreds of cars, everything from American muscle cars and hot rods to top-tier European sports and exotics.
The next Caffeine and Carburetors at New Canaan is May 10 at Waveny Park. Other dates scheduled this year are September 13 at Pine and Elm streets and October at the park.
