So the sports world is abuzz about the upcoming fight between boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and mixed-martial arts specialist Colin McGregor. The fight is scheduled to take place August 26.
It will be interesting to see if there’s nearly so much excitement on the Monterey Peninsula, where an extremely rare supercar formerly owned by Mayweather, a collector of high-speed exotic vehicles, will be offered for bidding at Mecum Auction’s “Daytime” sale.

The car is a 2010 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, one of only two produced and the only one produced to U.S. legal spec. The boxer paid $4.8 million for the car, which goes to auction with less than 1,950 miles on its odometer and with a pre-sale estimated value of $2.7 million to $3 million.
The car will be on display during Monterey Car Week not only at the Mecum venue but at Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival; at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering; and in a gathering of Koenigsegg vehicles on Cannery Row, before crossing the auction block on Saturday, August 19.
The car is consigned to the auction from Timothy Ash’s Indiana-based Ash Crest Collection.
“Like the champ, it absolutely demands respect,” collection curator Kirk Fiechter says in a video about the car.
The supercar brand that bears his name was founded in 2002 by Christian von Koeningsegg, a Swede who set out to build the world’s fastest street-legal cars.
The plan was to build a trio of Trevitas (Trevita is Swedish for “three whites”), but according to Mecum the process of creating the “Diamond Weave” carbon-fiber bodywork was so expensive that only two were produced. That finish, which incorporates diamond particles into the carbon fiber, “literally sparkles like millions of fine diamonds when exposed to the sun’s light,” according to Mecum’s online catalog.
The car also features a detachable hardtop that fits into the front luggage compartment and “dihedral syncho-helix actuation” doors that swing out and up on unique hinges.
Power comes from a 4.8-liter V8 that is twin turbocharged and produces 1,018 horsepower and 797 pound-feet of torque while burning E85 fuel.
The car reportedly is capable of exceeding 250 mph.
Should you not be the high bidder, fret not. Mecum’s docket also includes a 2005 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, a pair of Ferrari LaFerraris (a 2014 and a 2015), a 2016 Aston Martin Vulcan and a 2007 Maserati MC12 Corsa.
