Cars and bikes aren’t the only things up for bidding during Monterey Car Week –- a letter handwritten in Italian by Enzo Ferrari is offered during a charity auction at the 19th annual Ferrari Owners Club gathering, “Welcoming the Prancing Stallions Back to the Corral,” to be held August 20 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Barnyard in Carmel.
The letter has been framed and includes JSA and AAU authentication and reportedly has a retail value of $14,995.
The sale of the note and proceeds from the event benefit the programs of three non-profit organizations local to the Monterey area: The Arts Council for Monterey County, Soroptimist International of Carmel Bay, and the Rotary Club of Monterey Cannery Row.
Created by Ansel Adams in 1982, The Arts Council for Monterey County’s mission is to improve the quality of life for everyone in the region through the arts. The council plans to showcase art from local artists of all ages and various mediums at the event.
The event will also feature a display of vintage and modern Ferraris, wine tasting from various Monterey County wineries, food from restaurants in The Barnyard, as well as entertainment.
Tickets to attend the event can be purchased online or at the door the day of the event.
