Countdown to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale: 1970 Camaro “Grinch”

-

Editor’s note: This is the second in a 30-day sponsored series featuring cars to be sold January 23-31 during Barrett-Jackson’s 45th Scottsdale auction.

Prepare to be disturbed this Christmas day as the “Grinch” makes its way through Whoville, screaming as much as the driver likes with its 602 horsepower LS3 engine mated to a Bowler 5-speed transmission. Of course this gnarly “Grinch” could be none other than a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro built by the RingBrothers.

At a standstill, this snarling monster looks like it is ready to squash any Christmas spirit. The aggressive stance is accomplished by the fender flairs which seamlessly flow into the rocker panels, quarter panels, giving the car a very smooth and flowing look. Completing the body work is an exposed carbon fiber hood and a carbon fiber rear spoiler that has been painted green to match the rest of the “Grinch.”

Big and little Billet Specialties wheels and proper high-performance rubber enhance this car’s appetite for action. A set of Wilwood disc brakes are ready for the challenge of keeping this machine both driver- and police-friendly at the drop of a foot.

The RIngBrothers are known for giving each creation attention to detail and this Camero is no exception. The “Grinch” features individually crafted door handles, door hinges and hood hinges that go so far beyond the norm in design and basic function that they are incomparable.

Custom inner fenders and core support help contain the LS3 engine which was given a custom sheet metal intake manifold reversed with a throttle body and air box that draws air in from the cowl using the high-pressure area at the bottom of the windshield ‒- for a little extra natural boost.  A handcrafted exhaust system from headers to tailpipes spread the word to all of this car’s serious nature.

Corbeau bucket seats adorn the interior of the “Grinch” with Italian Gray leather from the Recovery Room paired with BMW carpeting and a custom dash featuring Classic Instruments gages, complete with a Kenwood sound system.

The Grinch Camero is crossing Barrett-Jacksons auction block in Scottsdale at no reserve.

Barrett-Jackson’s 45th Anniversary Scottsdale Auction, January 23-31 at WestWorld of Scottsdale, will feature over 1,400 vehicles, most selling at No Reserve. For information on becoming a bidder, visit Barrett-Jackson.com/bid or call 480-421-6694.
