Editor’s note: This is the first in a 10-day sponsored series featuring cars to be sold June 21-24 during Barrett-Jackson’s Northeast auction.

Offered with a reserve from the MS Classic Cars Collection during the second annual Northeast auction, this 1966 Shelby GT350-H is one of only 59 cars built in Ivy Green, ensuring the car’s rarity.

The Shelby GT350-H comes fully documented in the SAAC Shelby Registry and was recently verified by the 1965-66 Shelby registrar Howard C. Pardee. As the SAAC paperwork documents, Serial #SFM6S1025 was ordered with the Hertz special wheels, radio and brake booster which brought the total MSRP to $3,762.84.

The car is powered by a 289 ci V8

According to the car’s documents, this car was shipped on February 21, 1966, to Jack Loftus Ford and then shipped to the Hertz Corporation located at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois.

While the title reads mileage exempt, the car is said to have 72,401 miles. The SAAC documents detail previous owners in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Canada and Wisconsin.

The last owner, in Wisconsin, purchased the car in 2004 as a survivor and had the car completely restored in 2010 by well-known Shelby restorer and owner of “Shelby Parts and Restoration,” Jim Cowles.

Most of the parts that were replaced during the restoration were Ford NOS or OEM. The car retains almost all of its original sheet metal and has a framed fiberglass hood. Additionally, the body is very straight and the Ivy Green paint with gold stripes is of show-quality.

All of the glass seen on the car is original Ford Carlite and the Hertz wheels, including the spare, are original and the wheels feature era-correct Goodyear Polygas tires.

The black interior is largely original with the exception of the carpet and a few other miscellaneous items.

The original matching-numbers Hi-Po 289 ci engine was completely rebuilt and features the correct Hi-Riser Cobra intake, Buddy Bar valve covers, Holley carburetor, oil pan, oil filter and Auto Lite parts. The engine breathes through the correct headers and dual-exhaust system.

Additionally, the C4 automatic transmission and rear end were both completely rebuilt.

Many extras are included with the car such as the SAAC registry book, a binder with records, owner’s manuals, Hertz brochure, key chain and model cars.
