When the Chevrolet 201 rolled out in 1953, the car was considered to be the midrange model for Chevrolet and proved to be one of the best-selling Chevrolet models of the ’50’s because it was a happy medium between the basic 150 and the gilts and glam of the Bel Air.
While the Bel Air is still the most desirable model for collectors of that time period, the 210 has its appeal, particularly as a convertible due to its rarity.
The current owner has invested more than $300,000 to build this custom car inspired by a 1957 Chevrolet 210. The build was done by the Roadster Shop spanning from 2009 into 2010. The car features a Roadster Shop chassis with a new body built by Experi-Metal.
The car has been completely customized with 150 trim, hand-molded and finished in satin silver. Under the hood is a black-and-red, fuel-injected GM Performance 572 engine with 620hp, mated to a Tremec TKO-600 5-speed transmission.
Adding to the performance is a Billet Specialties Tru-Trac serpentine system, Sanderson headers and Flowmaster exhaust.
The Heidt’s front suspension and triangulated 4-link rear suspension with QA1 adjustable coilovers gives the car an excellent ride, complete with a 9″ rear with limited slip and 3.90 gears.
Wilwood disc brakes with 13″ rotors up front and 11″ in the rear help the car stop quickly. The Aurora wheels have been custom-painted Satin Silver while the interior sports Krist Kustom Sport front and rear bucket seats.
