The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, has announced the Inductees for the 20th annual Corvette Hall of Fame ceremony, set for September 1, 2017, as part of the museum’s 23rd anniversary celebration.
Being recognized for their contribution to the past, present and future of Chevrolet’s sports car, the Hall of Fame inductees include Peter Brock in the category of enthusiast; Jim Minneker in the category of GM/Chevrolet; and Tommy Morrison in the category of racing.
Brock was one of the youngest designers to work at General Motors, starting when he was just 19. Throughout his life, he has designed — including work on the original Corvette Stingray — and raced cars, written books and articles and, as a photojournalist, has captured a lot of motor racing history.
Minneker was instrumental in the early days of the National Corvette Museum and helped arrange displays relating to powertrain and engineering. He spent much of his career as a racer and engineer, utilizing his understanding of what makes power and applying it to what it takes to control that power on a track.
Morrison made Corvette history in 1990 at the 24-Hour Speed Endurance World Record Run where he and his team took a stock ZR-1 Corvette and drove it 24 hours straight, averaging 175.885 miles per hour.

Inside the repaired Skydome at the National Corvette Museum | Larry Edsall photosThe Blackhawk Museum in Danville, California, hosts a cars and coffee event on January 1 from 8-10 a.m. with similar events planned for January 8, February 5 and the museum will celebrate Enzo Ferrari’s 119th birthday on February 19 with a special cars and coffee presented by the Ferrari Club of America and the Alfa Romeo Association.

The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, Indiana, will present a 1930 Ruxton as part of the museum’s “If These Cars Could Talk” lecture series on January 7 at 2 p.m.
January 19, the California Automobile Museum in Sacramento hosts “Sacramento Motorcycle Stories” as part of its Third Thursday program. The event includes local motorcycle historians and club members sharing stories with a Q&A session afterword. Guests can enjoy a display of clothing and artifacts along with free snacks, beer and wine will be available for purchase.
The Blackhawk Museum continues its speaker series February 19 with David Hobbs, a former Le Mans race car driver, TV announcer, and a Cars 2 movie character.
The NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, has announced its 2017 schedule with events April 27-28, June 26-27, and August 26-27. Participants will be a part of a four-group program based on skill level separated into novice drivers, intermediate, advanced, and instructors. Registration is open and can be done online.

’62 is perched above the ’93 | Larry Edsall photosDecember 29 the America on Wheels museum in Allentown, Pennsylvania, holds a “Big Dipper New Year’s Eve Daytime Party” from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for families, with children aged 12 or younger admitted without charge.
The National Corvette Museum holds a Kids camp day January 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program is designed to teach children to connect the dots using science to help solve a crime in a hands-on investigation of forensic science. The day is designed for ages 7-12.
Additionally, registration is open for the Michelin NCM Bash on April 27-29, hosted at the museum. Attendees can attend seminars during the event on the seventh-generation navigation system, tires and brakes, hand building the LT4 engine, what’s new at the BG Assembly Plant, Corvette Racing, Transmissions and more.
The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum holds trivia night on January 21. The event cost is $25 per person or $200 for a team of up to eight members. The winning team will take home $300.
The British Motor Museum holds “Brick Week” February 18-26 and invites guests to the museum in England to take part in the automotive-themed brick-building challenges. Guest will be able to complete their own Lego brick section and professional model builders will attach it to the Lego brick mini the museum hopes to assemble in less than 9 days.

Skydome showcases eight cars swallowed by the sinkhole | Larry Edsall photosThe LeMay – America’s Car Museum, and the North American International Auto Show will spotlight a 1917 Crane Simplex Model 5 at events during the 12-day winter road rally called “The Drive Home II: The Heritage Run,” set to run December 27-January 7.
The World of Speed Museum in Oregon has opened its next exhibit, Women in Racing, showcasing women in drag racing and featuring Kacee Pitts and Sue Mitchell alongside Pro Stock Motorcycle drag racers Angelle Sampey and Peggy Llewellyn. These four racers are highlighted through racing gear, trophies, images, and more.
The Petersen also opened a new exhibit, the Unconventional Canvases of Keith Haring. The exhibit shows five of the vehicles covered in the artist’s work.
The North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh features “Rolling Sculpture: Art Deco Cars from the 1930s and ‘40s,” through January 15, 2017.
Running through December 31, the America on Wheels Museum features a holiday train exhibit. The trains within the exhibit run Thursday through Sunday.
The Studebaker National Museum in South Bend, Indiana, has “original hybrids” on display through June 4, 2017. The exhibit showcases examples of hybrids — European cars with American powertrains — such as the Iso Grifo, the Sunbeam Tiger, and Donald Healey’s very own Nash-Healey, serial No. 001.
The AACA Museum has the Tucker 48 Sin City 2 Movie car on display through April 1, 2017. The car is a handmade replica of a 1948 Tucker and was driven by Mickey Rourke and Eva Greene.
