My dad and mom purchased this car in 1962 here in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

It is still in original condition — paint, interior and very low mileage.

The car has power steering, brakes, windows, seats, antenna with Wonder Bar AM radio, auto headlight dimmer and cruise control. The air conditioning still blows cold. My dad was very proud of his “Caddy” and always kept it in top condition.

I still remember taking vacation trips with my parents. It was a smooth ride. We even pulled a camper trailer with it.

When my dad passed several years ago, my mom said I should keep the car because I spent a lot of time taking care of it with my dad. We still take it out for car shows and cruises.

I still feel like my Dad is with us when we take the car out.

  1. KUDOS TO YOU, KEEP THAT CADDY PURRING. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CAR. I TOO HAVE THE SAME STORY 2 YRS AGO I PURCHASED A 70 LINCOLN MARK III THAT IS WHAT MY DAD DROVE WHEN I WAS YOUNG WHAT AWESOME RIDE. I KNOW HE IS WITH ME WHEN I TAKE HER OUT TO SHOWS AND JUST CRUISIN.

  2. Tom, what a beautiful story. I would be very proud, and you should be! Keep that Caddy running. If I remember correctly it has a 390 ci engine with a Jet-A-Way 4 spd transmission. I had a 1960, and a1964. They are great cars, they just float down the road. That’s why we call them big boats, because they float!

  8. My dad had a 1962 4 window Deville in Firemist Red with white leather bucket seats up front, a four door we drove on a vacaction trip to Higvhland NC. I was 16 and drove most of the way. My multi colored madras shorts “bled’ onto the leather. He did not get angry, a wonderful man. I have several Caddys and Packards and really love driving my cars.
