I bought my car as a ” work in progress.”
I had wanted a classic Chevelle for a long time. I used to have a ’77 Malibu ( I traded it in the ’90’s ).
I got the opportunity to buy another car at Charlotte Motor Speedway in September 2013. I picked up a mostly finished ’68. It has Candy Burgundy over gold paint, 350-400 horsepower with a Muncie 4-speed, black interior with bench seat (yeah a bench ). I’ve had some interior work done, including new rubber and having the bench seat redone with new springs and foam.
I have Monroe MA762 air shocks, Hotchkiss trailing arms and 1-inch sway bar, also new ball joints, new horn, new wiper motor and sprayer as well as new wipers plus new chrome for the front right and left corners of the car. It has a new Street Fire distributor, Edelbrock heads, Performer intake, 1406 600 cfm carb and matching chrome breather. Exhaust is handled by Flowmasters with pipes that turn down just before the rear end.
Inside is a Hurst shifter. It also has the “radio delete” option. It has an aftermarket tilt wheel with a Grant steering wheel. I’m not going to put a stereo in the car because I like the radio delete; you don’t see it much.
The wheels are Cragar S/S. The tires are BFG Radial T/A’s (14-inch 70s in front and 15-inch 60s out back).
The hood is a factory cowl type.
My car does get driven; that’s why I bought it.
