This 1960 Chevrolet Impala is unmolested and all original as if it came directly off the showroom floor (except for the wheels). It was ordered with the 283 with a 4-barrel carburetor.

This was a barn find in Knoxville, Tennessee, by Fred and Virgie Lark. When Fred died, Virgie asked Dwight Patterson, a friend of the family who had a car dealership in Scipio, Indiana, if he would sell the car for her. I bought the from Dwight on November 28, 2014. It had 74,165 miles on its odometer at that time.

I paid $23,500 and it cost me $1,700.00 to have it shipped out to Granite Falls, Washington.

  1. My 1st car was a 60 Chevy Impalawhite with a red interior 283 4 speed. I bought a 348 tri-power engine from a friend, installed it, then after I was drafted my father put the 283 back in. I traded the 60 for a 66 Impala after was discharged, but the 348 is still in the barn to this day waiting another 60 Chevy to go into.

  2. Oddly enough I have maintained that my dad, at one point in time, owned a metallic green 59 Impala. I can see it when I close my eyes. The same holds true about a Red & Black Rambler American complete with continental kit he owned around the same time. The only problem is, nobody else including my dad, remembered anything about either car. I finally found a picture of the Rambler to prove my mind was intact, but the Impala remains the mystery car of my dreams. Dad is long since passed away but dammit dad, where did you put the Impala of my dreams.

  3. anyone hear of 1960 Impala factory demonstrator? At time Chevy told me there was only 50 made, never could verify that. I bought ragtop w/348 & transmission that was auto but not power glide. Also had factory installed cruise control, a/c & spinner hub cap and special body paint blue int. & Ext.. drove it 248,000 miles then 2nd daug. was born, needed sw.so sold it.
