I had a 1988 Pontiac Formula Firebird when was a young man, but we live in a city where there are many hills and rear-wheel drive is not ideal. It was my everyday driver and I had to sell to get a front wheel-drive car.
I always wanted to have a convertible as I had fond memories of my dad’s 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS. I was surfing the web and found this car, which fit the wish list.
There were no 1987 Firebird convertibles so it was bought by the owner and sent to a coachbuilder in New York to be retrofit as a drop top. This is also the last year Firebirds were made at the Norwood, Ohio, plant which is very close to where I live.
It is in nice shape for its age and is a work in progress. I love to drive it on nice days.
